Ideally located in a quiet, charming town, this characterful family home looks out over the river. The building dates from the late 19th-century house and is built of tuffeau stone, the same limestone used throughout the region for castles and monuments.
The spirit of the house, imbued with the maritime heritage of its former owner, is reflected in every detail: travel objects, decorative elements evoking adventure and curiosity, ship models, creating a warm, authentic atmosphere.
All this gives it a soul that will not leave you indifferent. You'll want to know everything about its history. The current owners are the third generation of the family who own this atypical and original house. Situated in the heart of a town in the Loire Valley, with its famous castles on the doorstep, and less than 45 minutes from Paris by train, this house is ideally located for visiting everything this corner of France has to offer.
Its authentic charm is present from the moment you step inside and contributes to the beauty of this family-run business, handed down from father to son for almost a century.
The stained glass windows on many of the house's doors and windows were designed by the former owner, a seafarer with a curious streak and dexterous hands. A self-taught craftsman, he left an indelible mark on the house. He was also a great gardening enthusiast. Every morning, he tended his vegetable garden and flower beds to embellish the landscape of his property.
The outside of this Loire Valley holiday rental is divided into several areas.
The first part comprises a large terrace equipped with plancha and barbecue, and a heated pool area with deckchairs, so you don't have to miss a moment of relaxation.
Next, you can enjoy a beautiful shady garden, with flowers and woodland of various species. Then, for home-grown gourmets, a vegetable garden and a herb patch complete the botanical ensemble. The gardener, who is on hand once a week, can provide you with a selection of seasonal vegetables, so that you can prepare your own tasty dishes.
The garden is totally enclosed and out of sight.
This elegant French holiday home is arranged over two levels. On the ground floor, you'll find a welcoming living room with fireplace, ideal for spending time together, and a dining room that looks out onto the terrace. Walk through the conservatory, bathed in a pleasant shaft of light, to the fully-equipped kitchen. A cloakroom, toilet and bathroom with shower and toilet complete the ground floor.
Upstairs, are four comfortable double bedrooms, each with a different decor that gives each room is own style and charm. There are two bathrooms, one of which has a hydro-massage bathtub. For added convenience, two of the bedrooms have their own separate toilet, and the utility room is handy for laundry and storage.
This Loire Valley holiday rental enjoys a quiet, relaxing location among a row of town houses by the river, with restaurants and local attractions within walking distance.
Just in front of the house is Le Loir - not to be confused with the larger and famous La Loire that gives its name to the region. Cross the bridge for an easy stroll to the shops and restaurants in the town centre, taking in the beautiful architecture along the way.
There are plenty of other lovely towns to visit nearby. The property is located between Blois and Tours, both worth a visit as you discover the Loire Valley. The region offers a wealth of sights to see, with a host of castles within a 45-minute radius of the property.
Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover or simply looking for some peace and quiet, this holiday home is the ideal base for enjoying everything the region has to offer.
